Congratulations Executive Chef Sarjheel Singh
Tanoa International Hotel’s Executive Chef, Sarjheel Singh has recently been awarded a World Chef’s Judge under World Association of Chef’s Societies (WACS). The Global Chef’s Challenge, Trade & Expo, was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia this year. Sarj has many other accolades, but this has so far been his optimum achievement.
Sarj began his humble journey as a kitchen attendant. Sacrificing and committing to work, excelled him into winning many medals during his competition days. This Ba chap was the youngest Executive Chef at 24 at a 4-star property.
As the Vice President of Fiji Chef’s Association, a reputable judge in the National Salon Culinaire, Sarj believes dedicating his time and efforts is also a way of giving back to society, especially to the young chefs out there who wish to aspire to be better chefs in life and assisting them in having a better future.
After 14 years in the industry, Sarj still has passion for food. He joined the Tanoa Group in 2013 as a Head Chef and since then has been very instrumental in standardizing food & culinary processes across the group. He was part of the pre-opening team at Tanoa International Dateline, Tonga, a 4-star property as the Executive Chef.
Sarj is currently working on rolling out a new A-La Carte Menu, a premium or executive conference package and works closely with the Food & Beverage team.
Mr. Singh’s message to his fellow chefs is to utilize local produce, which Tanoa International Hotel is currently practicing by growing ingredients at the hotel. Who said nothing comes to you naturally? Cooking delicious sumptuous dishes was his desire and he encourages the notion of trying other ingredients out there yet to be discovered in Fiji.
We applaud Sarj for his exemplary work as a Chef, this is just another milestone for a man who believes that food is not only passion, it is love, and everyone deserves some of it.
Fijian food has traditionally been very healthy and as a nation that loves to eat, we hold food, and the people who prepare it, close to our hearts.
